As Lucien explained his reasons for being there, calmly throwing their words back at them, they bit their tongue before replying. What could they even say to that? They still planned to reevaluate the kids as leaders, simply because they were minors, because they weren't mature enough. But even now they questioned it. A 17-year-old should never almost be killed in an attempt to protect others. A 17-year-old should never have to witness their best friend dying, being the only thing between their friend and death.
They didn't say anything though, letting him speak, and when he asked how they were, they sighed. "I'm concerned. I know what we're going into is a trap. But we have no other options."
They could very well never come back after tomorrow. They had more to say, and now was the time it had to be said.
"You've done good," Cleo settled on, making sure to look Lucien straight on when they said it. "I still am wary of your leadership, but not because I feel you are incapable of being one. You've more than proved that you are capable."
They didn't add much more, looking away. Even with truth being their thing, there was still too much honesty and vulnerability there.
"And if Dillon and I don't get back," they commented, still looking away, "everyone is going to need you."

When Cleo said they were concerned, Lucien nodded. They had good reason to be worried. After all, the exiled were going into this meeting in control. Yes, they had to be asking for this meeting because the ascendants had something they wanted. But it was also obvious that the exiled had the upper hand generally.
“You’d be stupid not to be” Lucien agreed, “the exiled are dangerous at the best of times and that asshole Gates has shown he doesn’t play by any rules.”
Not rules of civility and decency, anyway. No rules but the whims of a twisted mind that Lucien didn’t care to take the time to try and figure out. The exiled weren’t just dangerous, they were unpredictable. Which made them doubly dangerous. He didn’t envy Cleo and the others, though he’d have gladly gone and taken that risk for his friends if he didn’t think he would only make the situation worse.
But then they complimented his abilities as a leader, said he’d done well. He didn’t know what to do with compliments from anyone, never mind Cleo. He looked down for a moment, sticking his hands in his pockets. He might have muttered something that sounded like ‘thanks’, but for the moment he couldn’t verbalise any further how he felt.
What he was experiencing was relief that he wasn’t messing everything up. That he wasn’t incapable of this position he’d been put into. Surprise that he was being seen as actually being capable of something. Mostly just feeling seen. People had always assumed there was nothing to him, really, but a lot of anger and bitterness. But he tried very hard to do right by the people he cared about, and to think that might have been noticed by Cleo of all people felt good in a complicated sort of way.
But then Cleo was talking about if they and Dillon weren’t going to come back, and Lucien couldn’t remain silent at that.
“You’ll come back,” he said with so much certainty you’d think he had a crystal ball, not that he was just willing it so hard he was practically trying to talk it into reality. In truth he knew it no more than he had known whether Luka would live when she’d arrived back after the Fenrir fight. He was fighting in the dark.
“You’ll annoy the hell out of the exiled by not falling for any of their shit and you’ll do the best you can for us even though it’s scary, and that’s all we could ask of you.” he continued firmly.
At that point the boy shifted, clearing his throat and meeting Cleo’s eyes before adding, “You’ve made some mistakes, Cleo, but I’ve never doubted your intentions. You’ve always tried to do what you thought was best for all of us.”
He’d noticed that, of course he had. It might have led Cleo astray a couple of times to put it mildly, but he had faith their heart (because he was more and more convinced these days that they had one) was in the right place.

Luka laughed at Chiara's comment, it wasn't as forced as it could have been, and it was a little more genuine. "Maybe the reason Daddy Issues McGee is so stupid is because he does have the capability to talk," Luka agreed, giggling slightly, "can't be smart and have a voice. Would be too powerful."
It felt good to insult the wolf, even if he wasn't there to hear. Luka could still feel the sensation of pressure across her abdomen and thighs, the phantom pain as her shirt fabric rubbed against the newly formed scars. In her mind she could still see that picture of Haleema in Fenrir's mouth, could still see Chiara handing by her arm from the Wolf's mouth, Theo being dragged away, Ariella being bit.
Luka was glad that Chiara agreed with her assessment. She nodded once, grinning again, "Ariella is a dreamboat, we get it, but like, she's not more of dreamboat than meeee, rigghhhttt?" Obviously she was joking, firstly, she was asexual (not that she really announced that or anything, she just never felt attraction towards anyone), and secondly, well....she was asexual. Still, she leaned closer to Theo, batting her eyelashes in an annoying way like some little sibling pestering their older one.
She leaned back pretty quickly when Theo admitted he got their point, however we he didn't argue with being called a himbo or respond in that overly offended way he typically did when she teased or insulted him, her face became calculating.
Theo looked at her for a few moments, no realization in his eyes, and Luka stared back, raising an eyebrow. Theo then turned to look at the TV quickly, and she kept scrutinizing him.
"Oh by Baldr, you are a himbo!" She accused, looking at him, "you don't even know what a himbo is?"
She then started things and counting them off on her fingers, "Himbo, you know, pretty boy, empty head? Griffin?"
She rolled her eyes and leaned back against the couch again. She was very obviously amused, however. She had a little content smile on her face, and she faced the screen. It was the opening scenes with Odin, and she cocked her head to the side, "you know, that's kind of interesting. We got Heimdallr, Baldr, and Loki as guides, but there's no one with Odin or Thor," she pointed out.

Chiara listened to her two friends with amusement, laughing at Luka’s jokes. It felt strange to actually be enjoying herself this way. She hadn’t actually even enjoyed herself this much at the camping trip, the last time everything had felt okay. She hadn’t really made friends properly by that point - and she felt that now she did have people she could call friends.
She realised at the same time Luka did that Theo had no comprehension of what a himbo actually was. That was kind of funny, she had to admit. And possibly the most himbo response that Theo could have had in that moment. It was kind of perfect. Chiara, usually so restrained in her behaviour, allowed herself a little snort of laughter. Between Luka’s jokes and this, she didn’t think she’d laughed this much on a while.
”Griffin definitely has himbo vibes“ she supported Luka’s example.
He was such a himbo it almost felt like it couldn’t be real. But Theo too had definite himbo vibes. At the ‘empty head’ description, though, Chiara anticipated Theo might take offence at that because, well… it was kind of insulting even in an affectionate way.
”It’s more about being non-toxic, kind and wholesome. That’s the essence of it.“ she added, trying to assure him he wasn’t dumb. She was also trying to get across the importance of emotional intelligence.
It was a silly stereotype anyway, not to be taken too seriously when applied to actual people. You couldn’t put people in boxes that easily, not even Griffin who was probably the biggest himbo she’d actually met.
At Luka’s comment about Thor and Odin, Chiara thought about it for a moment. It had crossed her mind before, the lack of two of the most widely known gods in the Norse pantheon.
”It is weird they don’t have champions,“ she agreed, ”you’d think they of all people would want in on the action,“
Thor especially. This seemed like the kind of thing he’d be desperate to be involved in. Perhaps Loki’s involvement concerned Thor and Odin and they were unsure about getting involved. But Heimdallr was involved and he had more reason than most not to want to be involved with anything Loki was involved in - same for Baldr. So what was the cause of their delay?

Theo could agree with some Fenrir slander any day, but for some reason it was starting to hit a little too close to home. Not because he felt bad for the wolf, but because he imagined the words applying to himself. Stupid cause he talked a lot. The feeling seemed to dissipate when Chiara laughed along to Luka’s joke. It was rare for her to respond like that, and given how much the dog put her though, it seemed to be a moment she needed.
The dreamboat comment regarding Ariella was enough for Theo’s cheeks to flash red briefly. Was it because she was implying that’s what he thought about the champion of Hercules or just embarrassment of being called out? It was hard to gauge, especially because he wasn’t entirely sure what his actual feelings were: Deep admiration or just another crush?
That same confusion was how he figured out he was bi.
Soon Theo managed to get himself composed and stared up at the younger girl. When Luka leaned over to tease him, the boy lifted a hand to her forehead and lightly pushed her back. “Dreamboats don’t make explosives, you’re more like a natural disaster,” he said, amused.
In a way she most certainly was. There was no other explanation to watching her set a beast on fire while being half dead. It was amazing but also incredibly terrifying. Especially with the 15ft drop afterwards.
With the himbo allegations, Theo did his best to bury himself in the couch and escape to Wonderland with the last of his social life. He was content to live his life as a slug before his head popped back up, spilling some of the popcorn in the bowl.
“I am more than pretty,” Theo scoffed, “my head is not empty! And I don’t know what Griffin has to do with this…”
He listened to Chiara’s more casual explanation of it, nodding slowly with a furrowed brow. Did he fully get it? No, but he wasn’t going to ask about it any further to retain some dignity.
“Doesn’t exactly sound like what Luka described tho.”
Eventually their attention was drawn back to the movie, and the comments about Odin and Thor. It did seem strange that some of the most prominent figures were absent, but…
“Maybe this shit is too much, even for them.” Theo shrugged, “Especially with, you know who. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.”

Cleo listened to Lucien speak, their eyes avoiding the boy's as they glanced at the room around them. Sterile and clean. They could still see the 4 injured from a few days prior, Luka bleeding out, her blood coating anything she touched like Midas touch. Ariella bruised and broken by the fight. Chiara's arm once again hanging by a thread.
They actually cracked a slight smile at Lucien saying they'd annoy the Exiled. Though they quickly went back to their straight face, the comment did amuse them.
"That may be true," they agreed, and listened as he said he understood them. They'd never admit it, but they did feel a small bit emotional at that. That Lucien understood their reasoning.
"Don't get too sappy on me now Lucien," they commented, looking at him with the slightest bit of mirth in their eyes, "it makes it seem like you're going soft."
They didn't smile this time, but the comment was very obviously a joke.

Lucien chuckled lightly at Cleo’s joke about him going soft, murmuring a quiet “yeah” but saying nothing more. He wasn’t used to them trying to joke with him like that but he did appreciate their attempt to keep the conversation light.
But a moment of silence passed between them before Lucien sighed, ducking his head slightly before he spoke up.
“Cleo, I get it, you know.” Lucien began “I mean I didn’t at first because I’m not used to people expecting stuff of me but… I get it now. The pressure and whatever.”
He betrayed what he was referencing when his eyes followed where Cleo’s had only moments ago gone to survey the room. He was referring to his role as healer, which was an immense pressure for him. He always felt guilty admitting it because he didn’t want people to feel bad about going to him, but it was true. And it helped him understand a little bit the high standards Cleo was putting on themselves, even if he hadn’t grown up in the kind of environment they had.
The boy met Cleo’s eyes before continuing, “You don’t have to be perfect to be a good leader or for people to care about you. And I think we could both do with learning that lesson because I’ve spent too long giving a shit about what you think and trying to please you. Respectfully.”
He didn’t mean it aggressively or to be snarky. It was just the plain truth. Even in that conversation he’d been worried about what Cleo thought about him as a leader. Even now he thought he’d be hurt if they didn’t think he should stay on as leader, even though he’d accept that judgement if it came because frankly he had his own doubts about his capability. He wanted to please people and live up to Cleo’s expectations because not that many people had cared enough to expect anything of him.
“The gods wouldn’t have chosen us if they wanted perfect, s’all I’m saying. And the times you’ve let that guard down a bit, I’ve seen someone I think could actually be kind of cool.”
It was true. Cleo’s focus on perfection and order had led them down some paths that had caused others pain, and Lucien would be the first to hold them accountable for that. But when they weren’t worrying about that, when they let the person they were under all of that come out, he saw a good person who cared about people. Sometimes with a shitty way of showing it, but if he didn’t think Cleo was able to grow he wouldn’t have bothered saying any of this. But he’d seen them already making an effort to try to be better.

Chiara was smiling and laughing too, and Luka, for the first time in days, felt her heart melt slightly. A genuine smile had came to her face, and her mind, for the moment, was free of seeing her friends dying to the giant wolf, or the pressure collapsing her on all sides, crushing her beneath its' feet, crushing her between its' teeth.
Luka giggled at Theo's embarrassment regarding his admiration of Ariella. It wasn't cruel, yet rather teasing, much like how a sibling would pester another.
He pushed her back, pushing against her forehead, and collapsed into a fit of mischievous giggles, poking up at him, aiming for his nose and missing and hitting somewhere under his right eye, "awwwwwwwwwwwww, don't be so embawessed!" She looked overly smug, retracting her hand and crossing her arms, "and I pride myself on my explosives, thank you very much!"
She was smiling, and it grew slightly at his slight genuine offense. She snorted at him, and allowed Chiara to explain, before she furthered it, "don't get your knickers in a knot, Theo," she assured, grin falling flat before climbing back up, "you're head is very full of thoughts about our dear friend Ariella and our newer acquaintance Mr. Eyeing Da Lawn."
The callback to the guy honestly was hilarious. The dude was a strange one, dressed like some Phantom of the Opera wannabe, but the most traumatizing part of that experience, to this day, was the flirting. She knew it was Theo's like...tactic, but it still threw her off a lot, and she'd absolutely still tease him about it.
Apparently deciding Theo had been teased enough, she peeked over him to lock eyes on her new target, flashing a threatening little grin at Chiara, she didn't say anything yet, but it was obvious the brunette was planning some way to tease the blonde.
However she pointed out the movie instead and the connection to their guides, and that began a new discussion. Luka sat back in thought as Theo and Chiara offered up their opinions, her eyes narrowing, Especially at Theo's words, her smile fell slightly, but the scheming face was still there, an eyebrow quirked, "you're right," she said, glancing at Theo, "I mean, I dunno about Thor, he seems like the type to want to get in the middle of everything," the words were in part inspired by Loki's own thoughts, and it was almost said semi-fondly, though Luka actually had no opinion built up of Thor, she'd never met him, after all. "But think back to how you both thought of me when we first met. It was a disaster waiting to happen. Champions of Loki, Baldr, and Heimdallr interacting? Our guides, according to myth, kill one another," she looked almost sad for a moment at the thought of ever causing harm to Chiara or Theo, "but we aren't them, and we know that. Even if you make me reaaaallly contemplate it sometimes." The last part was entirely a joke, something to break up the heavy topic, perhaps for her own sanity.
She looked thoughtful for a bit, before shrugging, "Loki's lil' hellspawn has no such stipulations," they all knew that. Look at them, look at Haleema. "What I mean is, Odin probably doesn't wanna chance that, given his whole fate."
She rolled her hand around as she spoke and returned to watching the movie, trying to appear cool, even though even mentioning Fenrir in passing was like pouring cold water on her good mood.

Dillon didn’t know if it was strictly a good idea for him to go to Venice given that the exiled were clearly aware of how vulnerable the group out there was. But the upcoming meeting had perhaps made him a little reckless. All he knew was he had to make sure they were all okay after facing Atticus, especially after Ripley had made those comments on the phone.
So he’d cleared the trip with Cleo and had packed together some supplies to bring through. More money, some medical supplies for after the encounter, things like that. Dillon didn’t want them to be forgotten about with everything else going on; they needed to survive out there.
The boy shouldered a backpack of supplies and stepped through a portal back to be greeted once again with the sights of Venice. But he wasted no time taking anything in, making an instant beeline for the place he knew the others to be staying.
Irene had held him to account for his failings as a leader, just as he had also held himself accountable. And he was trying to be better, really trying. He was trying to do that and live up to his promise to Irene of focusing on his duties back at the Pantheon. But after the attack he couldn’t abandon them too, especially if he was still fulfilling his Pantheon duties.
He soon found himself at the door to where the others were staying, taking a deep breath before reaching out to knock.
He hoped they hadn’t changed where they were staying to try and throw the exiled off their trail.
”Hey! It’s me, Dillon.” the boy called as he knocked, hoping and praying for an answer now the thought had crossed his mind that they might have moved locations if the exiled had caught onto them.

Chiara watched Luka tease Theo, taking note of the mention of the person the two of them had fought and apparently some mention of flirting. She didn’t know too much about this Eidolon character, so she was interested at least in this rare nugget of information.
It felt good hanging out like this, being a kid. She’d been kind of lonely growing up, being quiet and not having any siblings. This energy was new to her, but it felt warm and enlivening.
”Don’t listen to Luka,” she said to Theo in regards to the ‘himbo’ issue, ”this is a girl who put cumin in our ice one time.“
Luka already appeared to have shifted her attention, though, because Chiara recognised the expression that settled on Luka’s face. She’d acquired a new target for her teasing - Chiara herself. That was fine; Chiara had been victim to Luka’s humorous jabs plenty of times before.
”Well after saving one another’s lives so many times, killing one another seems counterproductive.” Chiara commented drily at Luka’s words about their guides being fated to kill one another.
But she did privately wonder what the Norse gods knew that they didn’t. We’re the ascendants failing so badly Odin and Thor didn’t see a benefit to being involved? Could Ragnarok be coming?
But she didn’t say that, because the last thing anyone needed right now was more negativity and stress.
”Maybe they took one look at us lot and decided they didn’t want to inflict us on any poor unsuspecting people.” she joked.

“I’m offended you’d even make the comparison,” Theo squinted accusingly, “I don’t have feelings for a guy who literally tried to stab me with a sword. It was more the other way around, the dude was a creep and that ain't attractive.”
“Besides, crush or not, I’m not looking to get into any type of relationship like that. Especially not with how my last one-” he quickly cut himself off, deciding it wasn’t worth bringing up. They were supposed to be having fun, and he didn’t want to sour the mood with that type of conversation. Instead choosing to break his silence by chewing on a fistfull of popcorn.
He briefly looked over to Chiara’s reassurance, his expression noticeably shifting to one of disgust when she mentioned the cumin incident. He would have exclaimed in shock at the revelation, but stopped himself because it was absolutely something she would do.
“First mistletoe now cumin. What’s next, cacti on the dining chairs?” Theo muttered, staring Luka directly in the eye as he spoke. He paused for a moment before adding, “no that is not a suggestion, do not do that.”
The champion of Baldr didn’t have much to say in regards to their guide’s relations, mostly because his was just dead. The most he’d have to worry about was figuring out if Luka wanted to kill him too, though it was obvious at that point she had no intentions of doing so. Maybe he was too lovable.
“Speak for yourself,” Theo snorted in amusement after Chiara spoke, “I’m not that insufferable.”

"Could have fooled me," Luka commented, pulling out her phone to pull up the video she took of Theo fighting and flirting with the guy. Hitting play and turning it, the video, a little shaky from Luka's movement and silent laughter, showed Theo getting his comb out, combing his hair quickly, giving a thumbs up to the camera, and turning his attention to other guy. The two argued as Luka narrated but they didn't flirt all that much. Instead, they acted kind of like two kids arguing over a lollipop but the lollipop was Eyeing Da Lawn's sword. She still smirked after the video stopped playing, "it's like an old married couple arguing. I didn't even get the part where you two were arguing about who was more obsessed with the other."
She put the phone down, turning it back off and laying it screen down on the coffee table before them. She used the whole video thing as a way to deter Theo from thinking about however his last relationship ended, especially with how closed off he seemed to be about it. She didn't bring it up, though she was really really curious.
She smirked at Chiara's callback to the cumin ice, snorting as Theo continued the joke and warned her not to put cacti on the chairs. Her shit-eating grin could broadcast that she had absolutely pocketed the idea, "alright, cactus' where a cactus should never be found, liking that one...Luci might not appreciate having to heal someone ass though because they got a cactus butt."
She pondered a bit, they got to the topic about the guides and Odin and Thor, and Luka said her piece, followed by Chiara's. Luka shrugged at that, "I may be insufferable but at least my last name isn't Belcher," she commented, picking some petty retort as a manner of teasing Chiara. She paused a moment, before glancing at Chiara, "and at least my arms are intact. Like seriously, do you have heroin in that thing or something? Why does he like your arm so much!?"
She actually giggled slightly at that, by making Fenrir into a joke, she felt better about it. Especially comparing Chiara's arm to heroin of all things.

Chiara couldn’t withhold her own snort of amusement when Luka showed the video of Theo and Eidolon. Theo had been teased enough for the moment, but that didn’t mean she didn’t find watching the video hilarious.
She did notice Theo’s mention about how his last relationship had ended, but thought better of saying anything or drawing any attention to it. Instead she just logged the information away. If she brought it up with him in private she knew Theo would likely avoid the discussion, since avoidance seemed to be his most common behaviour when it came to talking about difficult topics, and she didn’t feel like she was quite close enough to him for it to be appropriate to ask. But perhaps the opportunity to discuss it would arise.
The blonde let out a long-suffering kind of sigh when Luka locked on to Theo’s cacti joke, but when she shook her head she couldn’t deny there was a slight hint of amusement in it. Chiara wasn’t the type to particularly enjoy pranks and things, but Luka had a talent for bringing levity sometimes when everything seemed too terrible and it was felt hard to breathe. She had to appreciate that.
”Don’t encourage her,” she said to Theo, ”we’re her room neighbours, who do you think she’s going to test things on?”
However, after joking around about the gods not wanting to inflict the ascendants on any more people, it seemed that Luka took the opportunity to tease Chiara that she’d evidently been waiting for.
”Name jokes are rich coming from Raluca Ravina” she replied evenly, as if this were the most mundane conversation in the world.
She let her mouth twitch into a hint of a smile, though, when she mentioned her arm. She hadn’t known how she would feel about a joke about her arm, given the trauma associated with it, but actually it felt kind of good to joke about it.
”You don’t have to be jealous, Luka” Chiara replied casually ”I’m sure he thought you were just as tasty”
She hoped it was okay to joke about it, because she knew how difficult Luka had been finding everything since their last encounter with Fenrir. Just as traumatised as she was, at least. But Luka had started the joking so Chiara had to hope it was okay for her to joke too.
Besides, making jokes about it made it feel less scary. She could pretend she hadn’t cried the first time she saw her arm in the mirror when she was alone. The mangled mess of scars that she could barely make move at first. New scars and old ringing the skin. She’d started to exercise it gently to build up the strength again, and planned to ask River if he would help her if she got a chance. She felt bad doing so with everything he was going through, but he was the best person to help her, and perhaps it might offer a distraction.

“Well I answered your question,” Theo rolled his eyes at Luka, “it's clearly him if he tried to pretend he knew who we were. Real stalker behavior.” It was a real pain that Luka kept the video, and he didn’t find as much humor in it as everyone else. However it did distract him from where his mind was starting to wander, so that was a plus.
The more pressing issue seemed to be about his cactus comment, which Luka seemed to have unfortunately latched onto. A defeated groan escaped from the boy alongside Chiara’s own sigh. She used the time to scold him for saying it.
“Hey don’t blame this on me! She’s the one doing it!” he waved his arms defensively. She was right, how the close proximity made them easy targets to pranks like that. It meant she didn’t have to walk too far just to get a reaction out of someone.
“Look, if she does do it, I need you to take one for the team for once.” He didn’t want to get stuck with being the guinea pig again.
As the two girls started poking at each other’s names, Theo couldn’t help but laugh, “You’re lucky people go by Luka instead of Ra Ra. It's like your name is halfway to being a Lady Gaga song.”
He was about to eat another handful of popcorn before they started joking about injuries. Just imagining it made him queasy. “Eugh, please, I’m trying to eat.” Unlike them, he didn’t really want his appetite to be ruined by being reminded that they were all almost dog food.

It hadn’t been long since Daniel lost consciousness during the fight with Fenrir before he was woken up by a sharp, searing pain surging through his body. It felt like his entire body was suddenly on fire and he frantically looked around for the source before his eyes landed on an unfamiliar face above him. Nathan stared down at Daniel with a fake smile plastered on his face “You might want to keep your mouth shut. This is gonna hurt like hell and I don’t think you wanna experience what biting your own tongue off twice feels like” he said watching the larger man struggle to get away from him. Sadly for Daniel, the fight with Fenrir had left him nearly unable to move. His arms were in tatters and the same went for his legs. The only thing left fairly unscathed was his face but even that had a large gash that went from the left side of his forehead to his chin. Daniel was extremely lucky that Fenrir stopped toying with him as soon as the transformation was undone, most likely because the wolf thought he was dead and the lack of blood flow most likely aiding in that thought. As the healing continued, the pain only got stronger and Daniel was trying his hardest not to scream from it. It didn’t take much longer before he could no longer hold back as another even stronger surge of pain rocked his body before it caused him to pass out from shock. Nathan let out a loud laugh as he watched that though slightly impressed he lasted as long as he had.
Daniel’s eyes opened for the first time in what felt like days but was really only a few hours. He winced as he immediately felt pain shock his entire body. He felt like his body had been run over and backed over several times but Daniel guessed that’s what he should expect when he was made into a giant wolf’s chew toy. He still remembered the feeling of Fenrir’s jaws closing on one of his arms and he had immediately understood why everyone who had met the wolf never wanted to again. After trying to get himself a little more comfortable, he took a look around at his surroundings. It was a pretty dingy room, though fairly large, and as his eyes scanned the room he saw the other ascendants that had joined him on the mission. When he saw Echo, a pang of guilt hit him. He had hoped that she would have escaped while he distracted Fenrir but it seems like she didn’t get away fast enough. He did notice that two Daniel let out a small sigh as he looked up at the ceiling, taking some small relief in the fact that Lane hadn’t joined them on the mission. He just hoped she didn’t try to do anything stupid to get them all back and knowing her, it was wishful thinking to think she wouldn’t. Realizing that made Daniel feel even more like shit than he already had. Here he was barely even able to move, his friends captured and the woman he had fallen for was most likely throwing herself into danger. He closed his eyes and tried to let his anger explode out like he had done so many other times but nothing happened and that's when the panic started to set in. He struggled to lift his arm up and remove the bandages on it and after some time he saw the reason. It didn't take a genius to put two and two together as to the reason why he wasn't able to transform. Where there were once black patterned lines that covered his arms were now countless scars from his fight with Fenrir that broke up the patterns. His teeth clenched and he felt a pressure rising up in his throat as a feeling of powerlessness washed over him. Yet another thing for him to feel like shit about, losing the ability to use his power.
