River slowed to a complete halt when Pascal said his name. He just stared at the food in front of him and did his best to keep his expression like stone. But a couple things passed through. Hurt, anger, confusion, and shame were a couple obvious ones. But, there was more hidden under everything.
"Right," he mumbled and stabbed a few more bits of pasta onto his fork just a little too forcefully. But he smoothed his expression back out into a calm and content one though very strained.
"So how is Lucien doing with your teachings? He's not still being a little shit is he?" River joked as he changed the subject and glanced at his friend.

Pascal lowered his gaze back down to the food. The mention of Laurie did not get taken well, which should have been expected. River was his ex, their break-up wasn’t on good terms, and now Laurie’s loyalty lied with the exiled. It wasn’t a pleasant subject for either of them.
“Apologies for bringing it up,” he muttered, not looking up from his plate. With his fork, he picked up another bit and chewed.
River chose to change the subject to something less grim, which Pascal wouldn’t argue with. This time asking how Lucien was faring, and the man had to pause and think about his answer before speaking.
“His progress has been well. Medical ward has been kept clean, and he has been diligent with studying. He’s persistent too, for good and for bad.” His expression soon lowered, “I wasn’t pleased with everything he said at that meeting, and I hope I was able to get that across to him.”

River waved the thought of offending him off. He wasn't upset with Pascal bringing him up it was just that everything was still so... raw. He was still trying to decide what he thought and what he felt. Right now everything just hurt. Physically, mentally, and spiritually.
"Good," River spoke before he realized he was. Pascal had said something about Lucien doing good with his medical training. Then about how he hoped what he said during the meeting got through to him.
"You did. We all did. I spoke with him after and... he's most likely going to stop being a fuck up but he won't stop being a little shit," River joked.
He leaned back in his chair and took his wine glass with him, tipping his head back and finishing the rest of the contents of his cup. "We should do this more often. Sit, sip, and talk shit," River joked again setting the glass down on the table and folding his hands over his chest as he smiled warmly at Pascal. "It's nice to have someone who gets it."

“I hope so for his sake,” Pascal sighed, shaking his head. Lucien was a good kid and was always willing to learn when it came to medicine. Though he wouldn’t argue that he wasn’t too much at times. That constant energy and willingness to put himself in danger… that was a trait that many people in the pantheon seemed to possess. It was admirable, but one that stressed him out to no end.
He picked up his glass of wine and took another sip. River seemed to enjoy their conversation and the champion of Hades couldn’t help but agree.
“It has, yes,” he nodded. It was rare for him to find someone who seemed to understand him, someone who was easy to talk to about this stuff. Most people could give him sympathy for his experiences, but he grew weary of the pity.
Pascal didn’t want to be treated like he was fragile and sad. The thing he wanted the most was to be treated like things were normal. A nice change of pace it was.
“I would not be against conversing more for the future,” he stated, “you’re a good man, River. I hope you know that.”

"You'd be the first to say so," River scoffed with a roll of his eyes. He didn't believe he was a good man either. Just somewhere in the middle of good and bad. "But, I appreciate it," he relented.
Pushing his chair back, he stood and picked up his plate and the bottle of wine. "I'm gonna save this for the next time that we talk," he explained as he gently bumped his shoulder into Pascal's. "For now, I'm really behind on sleep. Thanks for the first proper meal in a while. Feel free to bother me whenever," he offered and then turned to head back to his room.
He wanted to sleep for a couple days. Just to reset his mind before everything else caught up to them and shit got bad again. Maybe he'd actually be able to deal with the bullshit of the pantheon before he lost it.

When River started to leave, Pascal sat up in his chair and gave the other man a brief nod in acknowledgement. “Alright, take care,” he said and soon the other man was gone. Like the champion of Ares, he considered getting up from where he was to go to his room.
However, he stayed where he sat and continued to eat the Pasta. He wasn’t particularly tired and just wanted to get some food in his system before he returned to a routine.
Along with that, he just wished to be in a new space for a bit. Pascal’s room was familiar and comforting in some ways, but after his chat, he wished to at least experience a different space for a period of time.

A text came through to Atticus from Ripley.
-Come to the kitchen 😘
Ripley was moving around the kitchen. His hair was wet like he'd just showered, and it wet the back of his t-shirt. He was wiping down counter tops from left over flour and cocoa powder, humming to himself as he went. He was humming that same simple tune he always hummed.
He moved pots and pans to sit on top of the stove before deciding to fill a smaller pot with water and sticking it in the sink to fill while he turned his attention to the fridge.
He didn't look up once Atticus showed up. "I'm making dinner what are you feeling?" he asked as he pulled out garlic, onion, and basil. He looked surprisingly normal for once. Not like he regularly kidnapped people for fun or threatened to kill people because he felt like it. He just looked normal.
He glanced up once at Atticus and smiled as he set down onions, garlic, and basil on the cutting board and kept moving around. "We're do for another shopping trip so we don't have too many options."

Content warning: 2 guys sitting a hot tub, 5 feet apart because cuz their not gay! Atticus was scrolling through his phone, swiping through random videos when he received a text.
He snorted at Ripley's beckon, especially the emoji.

Atticus came into the kitchen, watching Ripley work, and leaning against the door frame. When Ripley asked what he was feeling like, he hummed for a few seconds. With what Ripley had out and what they had available...
"Spaghetti con pollo," he replied, angling his eyes over at the other, "We should have the supplies for that."

"Simple enough," Ripley mused as he stopped the water pouring into the pot, moved it to the stove, set it to boil, and salted the water.
From there he moved the frozen chicken to the sink and let a smaller steadier stream of cold water run along the surface of the package to defrost it before moving to the ingredients on the cutting board. Picking up a knife he started chopping the onion and cracking open the garlic cloves with the flat of the blade.
He glanced over his shoulder with a sly grin at Atticus as he moved and paused, sitting in his hip and inclined his head further to look at the exile leader.
"What are you admiring the view?" he teased with a chuckle. He turned his eyes back to his cutting and scoffed gently. "Come closer, I don't bite."

Content warning: 2 guys sitting a hot tub, 5 feet apart because cuz their not gay! Atticus watched Ripley from his spot by the doorway, making no move to come closer as he watched the other prepare the ingredients for the food.
He rolled his eyes at Ripley's flirtatious pose, though his lips quirked up and her sauntered closer, "Yes, I'm admiring you cutting an onion, because that's very admirable," he commented, but took a spot by the other.
He grabbed a knife out for himself and went about cutting some stuff for Ripley. Wasn't their first time doing this, obviously, and the routine came natural.
"You mentioned needing to talk," he questioned softly, eyes narrowed in focus, "You got information, or did you just miss me, Lover-boy?" He turned his head over his shoulder a bit to tip it at Ripley, flirty smirk on his own face.

"Nothing special," Ripley replied with a hum and a shrug of his shoulders. He bumped Atticus's hip with his own when he came to stand next to him. Grinning after the action, he went to dicing the onions into small pieces and pushed them to the side.
Moving to the stove, Ripley put butter into a pan and ignited the stove top to warm it. He waited for the butter to melt enough so that he could spread it into the pan and then tossed the diced onions and garlic into it to caramelize.
"You've just been pissy lately so I thought-" He paused and came up behind Atticus as he focused on cutting the last of the basil. He rested his head on the other man's shoulder and watched him chop with a small smile on his face as he lowered his voice "-it might be good for us to just be alone."
He stayed there just watching him for a moment before laughing low and quiet as he leaned away and turned his back to Atticus to check on the pan and the pot of boiling water.
"Besides I think you missed me more."

Content warning: 2 guys sitting a hot tub, 5 feet apart because cuz their not gay! Atticus froze when Ripley put his head over his shoulder, his breath hitching slightly at the words and tone. When Ripley moved, he masked his face back to it's haughty glare, crossing his arms after preparing his portion of the meal and set the basil to the side for later use.
He turned to the other, arms crossed, and huffed. "You're full of yourself," he commented, trying his best to look annoyed, but there was still a smirk on his face despite his best attempts.
He eyed Ripley for a moment, before shrugging, "We haven't done this in a while, though. I supposed it is...nice."

"Mooi seun, of course i'm conceited but at least im honest," Ripley laughed loudly and gestured to himself proudly. He gave Atticus a wink and a smile when he muttered that this was nice.
It was nice. Normal and quiet for once. And they weren't biting each other's heads off or trying to be sneaky with plans. They were just having a nice domestic moment between just the two of them.
Ripley pointed at the basil Atticus had chopped and gestured for him to bring it to him. "Put that in the pan," he instructed and then turned to focus on the boiling water.
He grabbed a handful of spaghetti noodles and placed them in the pot to slowly ease their way into the pot. Then he grabbed a couple more deciding that it wouldn't be enough. Moving to the sink he turned the water dripping on the water off and checked the chicken by poking it. It was more or less thawed so he picked it up and unwrapped it before placing it on a cutting board and beginning to season it.
"You know Gwen came to your defense about how we act. Said I don't treat you well," Ripley began as he worked and glanced at Atticus with a sly smirk. "Do you think I'm mean to you?"

"Aren't you supposed to be resting?" Ares questioned with an accusatory tone.
River spent a majority of him time in the training room these days. Either working out as little as he could stand to keep his strength up or scribbling notes down in his note book for Chiara, making future formations for potential battles, or how he was going to train Jason when he came back.
If he came back.
This time around, he was taking a page out of Chiara's book and using his spear with his left hand. He had no choice but to do so anyway since his dominate hand was wrapped up and still twitched from too much pressure or use. He slowly moved the spear into parrys and strikes. Forcing his hand to be more comfortable with each movement.
"I'm taking it easy. Relax," River teased back through an exhale of breath. He went from a block to a swiping strike by twirling the entire stick and down and around his torso so the lower half and the pommel rested under his arm and behind his back.
Ares merely grumbled in response and River could almost feel the God roll his eyes at him. "You're the one who needs to relax."

It had been a somewhat rough few days for Daniel. The lack of sleep due to nightmares combined with the amount of reading he'd done in the library was starting to make him go stir-crazy. After what he just went through, it was not a very comforting feeling. Lane had been something akin to a mother hen lately and she had practically forbid him from extraneous exercise until she was sure he would be fine but that was exactly what he needed to do right now. He needed something to release the built up stress he had accumulated over the weeks and hitting a training dummy was the easiest way Daniel had found during his time here.
As he got closer to the training room, he could hear the sounds of someone else already training. After everything that had and is currently happening, he wasn't surprised in the slightest. He looked around, his eyes landing on Ares' chosen. A feeling of anxiousness started to form. This had been the first time Daniel had seen the boy since he left the med bay. If anyone was gonna blame him for what happened to Echo, River would be the one. But if River was going to say anything to him, it'd be better for him to get it over with now.
Daniel took a deep breath as he readied himself for some kind of verbal assault, "Morning" he said
